The Johor Baru City Council (MBJB) has extended the deadline for transferring parking credit balances from the MBJBSpot app to the new Parkmax@Johor app until December 31, 2023. This extension aims to provide users with more time to adapt to the new digital parking system, which was introduced in May 2023. The mayor of Johor Baru, Datuk Mohd Haffiz Ahmad, emphasized the importance of ensuring a smooth transition for all users, stating that no enforcement action will be taken against those who have yet to migrate from MBJBSpot. The MBJBSpot app has over 400,000 users, while the Parkmax@Johor platform currently has 695,677 registered users. The migration to Parkmax@Johor was initially met with criticism from motorists who felt the transition period was too short and raised concerns over unused MBJBSpot credit balances. However, the council clarified that users would be able to transfer their remaining credits to the new platform, and the public's feedback has been positive overall, with some users reporting minor issues during the transition period. One such user, Stassie Lee, encountered technical difficulties during the migration process, while another user, Nurse L. Prema, is still waiting for her MBJBSpot credit balance to be transferred to the new app. Clerk Azri Azman, on the other hand, found the overall experience satisfactory and suggested that MBJB provide more information on the transition through various channels, including social media, text messages, and announcements at parking areas. The extension of the deadline is a positive step towards ensuring a smooth transition for all users, and it is important for the council to continue providing support and assistance during this period.
